Floating Boats

This week we have been designing and building floating boats. We had to think about suitable materials to use, and then design one that we could carry our plastic teddies on. We had a few problems with some, but thought of how we could fix them, and today we tested them out, and reflected on what we had learned from this challenge. All of our boats carried 10 teddies, and we showed them off at our school assembly.

Tasman Cross country

We have had a busy start to term 2, and welcomed our teacher trainee, Miss Cameron to our classroom. She worked with us for the first 5 weeks of this term, and know that we learned lots of things from her, and hope that she learned lots with us too.

We were very excited to have a visit from Harold the giraffe in the Life Education caravan. We learned about how our bodies, and many other things, need air to live; and also about how the air goes into our lungs through our nose and mouth, down our trachea, and all around our bodies in the blood, to give us lots of energy for learning and playing. We also thought about how dirty or polluted air will harm us.

We also ran in our school cross country at Kina domain on Monday 23rd, and are looking forward to going to Dovedale School on June 17th to run with our friends from the other schools in the Moutere Hills cluster. We will tell you about these another day.

We were helped by the older students who ran along with us as our buddies.

Alfie is a great little runner, anf flew around the course. Great style Alfie!

Sam managed to leave his buddy behind.
